I have 1 older brother, 1 older, and 1 younger sister. I was born in Michigan and we moved to Oregon shortly after. Mom, brother, and I moved to, and resided in Ohio until I was 14. Browns, Buckeyes, Lions, and Wolverines to this day. After mom's death, I moved back to Oregon with my dad and realized our college mascot was a duck. I never even heard of the Trailblazers. I eventually found love for my new local sports teams and Oregon remains home... For now.
Looking back, I'm thankful to have had two completely different demographic experiences growing up. In Ohio, I was a farm kid, and one of only a few people of color in my area. The land was my playground, and I ruled miles of it. Ponds, creeks, and flooded rivers were my swimming pools. Oregon was diverse and cultural. Modern and overwhelming at first. It all balances nicely in the end.
I am vulgar and brutally honest, yet compassionate and sensitive. I am tolerant and open-minded, a free thinker. I am a teacher and a student. I am a leader and a follower. I am an example. I am an advocate and a victim. I am a lover and a fighter. I am not religious, I am spiritual. I cry. I care a lot. I love the truth that the stars tell. I am sofa king we Todd did.
Ever since I touched the sea, I have been in love. Before moving to Oregon, I had visited a couple times. That was my first, and I will always reserve a special place in my heart for the coastal Pacific Northwest. As I evolved and traveled, I discovered a new love for warm coastlines like Florida, Mexico, and Hawaii. One of my favorite moments is a comfortable swim during winter in a tropical land. That warmth when you are used to freezing. Topless Halloweens and Christmases, thank you, I'll have some more of that.
I have felt the warm caress of such waters many times now and look forward to many more. Cruising became a passion since our honeymoon. We've enjoyed many days at sea and loved just about every port and stop along the way. I've found no better example of how to achieve so many different experiences within a single itinerary. So many good times with people from all over the world. The beach and sea will never get old for me, despite enduring many storms and miles of rough waters.
Life is not just about travel. Music is as much a journey. I like many facets of metal and hip-hop. There are too many genres and sub-genres now to make a list here. People might say I'm a "metalhead". Going to live shows is an equal spiritual experience. Seeing artists that make up the soundtrack of my life is exciting and just downright fun. It's a goal to see as many of those live performances as possible. Outdoor festivals are always on our list. I love karaoke and like to bring something unique to the mic. I love pop-culture, comicons, art, etc. I enjoy writing, though I'm not an avid book reader. I love shooting and building guns. I love unique swords and Damascus blades.
I love human culture and enjoy meeting people from all over the world. I want to hear stories of experience and history. Another goal is to break the language barriers, allowing myself to immerse even more. Hanging with the locals is better than any tour I've ever been on. I enjoying leaving my comfort zone to an extent. I'll try new things and love to add firsts to the list with my wife, Katie. She is my queen, my best friend, my partner, my nurse, and my therapist. I owe much of who I am today to this woman and would not have accomplished any of this without her. She is my soulmate, we are a dyad.
